Muija #2

Tein toiset Muijat, tällä kertaa itselleni. Joululahjaksi tekemästäni Gathering Stripes -paidasta jäi jäljelle puolitoista kerää Dropsin Karismaa, jotka halusin kutoa pois. Halusin myös kokeilla, voiko Superwash -käsiteltyä 100% villalankaa todella pestä koneessa. Langan vyötteen pesuohje väittää, että konepesu 40° onnistuu, mutta hieman epäilen. Kokeilen sitä nyt siis ensin näillä sukilla, ennen kuin paidan käyttäjä heittää paidan koneeseen. Sininen lanka siis Drops Karisma, väri 17 ja punainen Novitan 7 veljestä. 

I made another pair of "Muija" socks, this time for my self. I made Veera Välimäki's Gathering stripes for my best friend as a Christmas present and was left with a skein and a half of the blue yarn. As I'm trying to knit away my yarn stash (so I can buy more), I wanted to make socks from it. I also wanted to test, if you really can wash 100% wool superwash yarn in the washing machine. The yarn belt claims you can wash it in 40°, but I have my doubts. I wanted to test it with my socks, before my friend put her sweater in the machine. The blue yarn is Drops Karisma in color 17, a deep navy, and the red is Novita's 7 veljestä.

Ensimmäisen pesun jälkeen sukat olivat aivan kunnossa lukuunottamatta pientä langanjuoksua, joka johtui kerässä jo olleesta solmusta.

After the first wash the socks were fine, ecxept for a little run that was caused by a knot in the yarn opening.

Muija

Eilen tein -blogin Hanne teki tässä taannoin Marisukat, joihin oli yhyttänyt kuoseja erilaisista Marimekon printeistä. Hanne taas oli inspiroitunut Hupsistarallaa -blogista. Minä inspiroiduin molemmista ja sain yllykkeen tarttua toimeen. Haluan jossain vaiheessa tehdä myös omat Marisukkani, mutta tähän hätään valmistuivat Muijat. Olen jossain vaiheessa suunnitellut omia Muija -sukkiani, mutta se on jostain syystä jäänyt toteutumatta.

Lankana perinteisesti Novitan 7 veljestä (musta ja vaaleanharmaa) ja puikkoina 3,5mm bambut. Monet tekevät sukkansa paljon ohuemmasta langasta, mutta minä pidän näistä vähän paksummista. Lämmittävät huomattavasti enemmän ja mahtuvat tarvittaessa silti vaikka Consseihin.

I got inspired by the Eilen tein blog and the writer Hanne, who had made coo socks using Marimekko's prints as inspiration. I also want to make my Marisocks, but for now Muija. I've been meaning to make these for a while now, but hanne gave me the incentive to actally knit them. 

As always the yarn is Novita's 7 veljestä (black and light grey) with 3,5mm dpn's. A lot of people knit their socks with thinner yarn, but I like this worsted weight yarn. it's much warmer than thiner yarn, but I can still fit socks made from it to my Converse.

Nyt on edessä 16 päivän joululoma pitkän työputken päätteeksi, tätä on odotettu. Kuva on viime joululta, lunta odotellessa tälle vuodelle.

Now I'm headed to my 16 day of Christmas holiday. It's been a long time coming. The picture is from last year, still no snow in Finland.
